A project for a better life
A couple sent by SIM Switzerland has developed a project: a reintegration center in a West African country. The aim is to offer a better future to young women and their children, to get them off the streets and away from prostitution.
Education and training: the keys to autonomy
The center's program includes education and training for the women. Various skills are taught: literacy, mathematics, accounting - subjects that represent the key to a new life for these women, and then for their children as a result.
The beneficiaries of this program are trained in income-generating activities. They learn to make liquid soap, knit and crochet clothes. The aim is to use these skills to help the women at the center achieve economic independence, so that they don't fall back into prostitution as a way out.
Ongoing support: building a sustainable future
The road to reintegration is a long one, and not an easy one for all these women. That's why this project includes a cycle of "aftercare" support to ensure that each woman can maintain her stability and success over the long term.
