Child protection

SIM considers it fundamental that all its employees(*) treat children with respect, consideration and concern for their safety.

As an organisation, we want to provide a safe environment that promotes the well-being and healthy development of children and adolescents. This means respecting their physical, mental and sexual integrity.

We take all necessary measures to prevent abuse. In the event of justified suspicion, we establish a clear procedure.

Each member of staff must sign an attestation to the effect that he or she has never been guilty of, accused of or convicted of child abuse and that he or she abides by the rules and laws in force.

It is the adult's responsibility to set and respect clear and healthy limits in their contact with the child.

Anyone who suspects, sees or knows of the existence of abuse or ill-treatment has a duty to report it.

Accusations of abuse and sexual violence must be treated with the utmost caution. Priority is given to protecting the child concerned.

We comply with Swiss legal requirements and those of the countries in which our employees work.

At international level, SIM appoints a Child Protection Officer, who is responsible for implementing the Child Protection guidelines.
